Goethe International Charter School Welcomes Families to a New School Year

Los Angeles, CA — Goethe International Charter School (GICS) has officially welcomed students and families back for the 2025–26 school year, ushering in a season of growth, connection, and new opportunities for its amazingly unique community.

After a summer of preparation, GICS teachers and staff are excited to launch new programs designed to support student learning and growth. Among this year’s highlights are the introduction of new faculty members, the opening of a new main office and health office, and the departmentalization of the middle school program—an initiative aimed at deepening academic engagement and providing students with a more enriching educational experience.

A School with German Roots and Global Vision

Named after the renowned German writer and poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, GICS was built on the belief that true education goes beyond textbooks—it should open hearts and minds to the wider world. With nearly half of the staff being German-speaking and a thriving German language program, the school not only teaches the language but also shares traditions, perspectives, and cultural community events that enrich every student and their family’s experience.

At GICS, German heritage is not just part of the name, it’s part of the spirit of the school. From hearing German spoken in classrooms and hallways, to celebrating cultural events, students are immersed in an environment that values global understanding and respect for diversity. These experiences shape them into curious, compassionate learners who see themselves as citizens of the world.

“The multi-language aspect really sets Goethe apart. As a staff member with children learning multiple languages, I see every day how it expands their minds and knowledge—and I love that about this place,” says a new member of the GICS staff.

Empower Our Journey: How You can Help

This year, Goethe International Charter School has set an ambitious fundraising benchmark to sustain and grow its outstanding programs in language, arts, technology, and global learning. At GICS, every gift of time, talent, or resources is more than just support—it’s an investment in our students’ futures, future leaders, and changemakers of the world. Each contribution directly impacts the classroom experience, helping us provide innovative programs, learning opportunities, enhanced technology, and enriching courses in language, arts, and global studies.

When families and community partners give, they help open doors of possibility: a student discovering a love of science through a hands-on project, another gaining confidence by learning a new language, or a classroom lit up by curiosity. These moments of growth are made possible because of the generosity and care of our community, organizations like GABA, families, and our staff.

Families, alumni, local businesses, and community partners are invited to support the school in several ways:

  • Donations:One-time or recurring contributions directly strengthen academic and enrichment programs.
  • Sponsorships:Businesses and organizations can sponsor events, programs, or cultural celebrations while gaining visibility within the GICS community.
  • Partnerships:Community collaborations that provide unique learning opportunities and vital resources for students.

Your support—whether through donations, sponsorships, or partnerships—ensures that our students not only learn, but thrive in an environment where curiosity is celebrated, cultures are honored, and every child is prepared for the big wide world ahead.
