Zeiss Innovation Center Delivers Cutting Edge Technology
The ZEISS Innovation Center in the Bay Area, opened in 2021, has rapidly become a vital hub for cutting-edge research and development in optics and optoelectronics. Over the past month alone, the center introduced three groundbreaking products, further solidifying its position as a key player in the global high-tech landscape. Located in Dublin, CA, the facility brings together nearly 800 researchers, engineers, and service teams, fostering close collaboration with Silicon Valley’s tech and medical communities. The center reflects the convergence of ZEISS’s 175-year history of German innovation with the dynamic energy of Silicon Valley.

The ZEISS Innovation Center in Dublin, CA, recently showcased its latest high-tech advancements to a group of GABA members during their second visit to the facility. Located in a rapidly growing area, the center has become a hub for cutting-edge research, while maintaining close ties with Silicon Valley’s tech and medical communities. Medical professionals from the region frequently collaborate with the center, bringing real-world challenges that fuel the development of new solutions. Following a $180 million investment by ZEISS, the Innovation Center has significantly expanded its capabilities, driving advancements in cutting-edge technologies and fostering collaborations with the Silicon Valley tech and medical communities.
Says Benjamin Kaminski: “We are delivering quintessential research and high-tech products in close cooperation with our headquarters in Germany”. Kaminski is the Head of R&D Chronic Disease Management, the medical branch of Zeiss that is headquartered at the Innovation Center.
Some of the innovations that were presented to the GABA members include the reinvention of lens extraction with the first hand-held ultrasound-free lens removal device, solutions that redefine disease management and treatment within the ZEISS Retina Workflow, and pave the way to more personalized patient care by connecting surgical solutions to cutting-edge AI technology.
