Transatlantic Trade in Focus: The Impact of the New US Government

One day after the new U.S. Government came together for its first Cabinet session, and four days after Germany elected a new Bundestag, we enjoyed a timely discussion about how businesses and institutions are navigating the whirlwind of change that is now blowing across the Atlantic.

About 150 GABA members and guests heard from our panelists from Stanford University’s Hoover Institution, the Bay Area Council Economic Institute, the City of San Francisco and Deutsche Bank Wealth Management how players in government, academia and businesses are responding to a shift from trade policy to industrial policy, facing new challenges and seeking new opportunities in a dramatically changing playing field. Our knowledgeable moderator, NZZ Correspondent Astrid Langer, conducted this amazing discussion on board of the century-old Ferry Ship “Historic Klamath” – a fitting background for talks about winds and change of historic dimensions.

We also thank our partners, the European Chamber of Commerce in the Bay Area (AAECCBA) and The Bay Area Council Economic Institute in co-hosting this event with us.
