The global software industry is in the midst of a major transformation. Development activities are now more international than ever, especially given the trend towards off-shoring. More and more software products are being assembled using open source components or on open-source platforms. Software is becoming increasingly sophisticated in design and it is quite ubiquitous, furnishing a vital component of most, if not all, human enterprises that involve any amount of technology.
Network based information technology is also evolving. We are noting a trend towards cloud computing, which takes a more utility-oriented view towards providing server side services. Enterprises and small businesses are adopting mobility services to increase customer responsiveness and improve reaction times to market events. On the consumer side, more and more entertainment is consumed directly from the network, bypassing the traditional channels.
The GABA Software Industry Group creates events to examine these trends within its own industry, but will also engage our other IGs (Automotive, Clean Tech, Life Sciences, Media & Entertainment, Semiconductor, Telecommunications) to create co-sponsored events covering software in a specific industry sector.
Our events typically include a topic expert to set the stage for our discussions, followed by a diverse panel that can examine different points of view. If you are interested in participating in a particular topic, either as a speaker or a panel member, please contact one of the industry co-chairs listed below.
